Rev. Linda Jaramillo To Lead Conference Board in "Sacred Conversation on Race"
Tuesday, April 7, 2015
Reverend Linda Jaramillo, Executive Minister for Justice and Witness Ministries of the United Church of Christ will be with the Board of Directors of the New York Conference on Saturday, April 11th. She will lead the Conference Board in a "Sacred Conversation on Race". Following the events of the past several months, the Conference Board invited Rev. Jaramillo to lead them in a conversation that will sensitize them to institutionalized racism. Anti-racism resources may be found on the New York Conference website's Justice Action page.
Rev. Jaramillo has a long history of involvement in justice issues, both in the church and in community movements. She was a long time Latina leader in the Portland (Oregon) metropolitan area. She co-facilitated an historic dialog process between African American and Latino communities in that area. She is a former president and vice-president of the Council for Hispanic Ministries, co-convener of the Council of Racial and Ethnic Ministries, and a UCC delegate to the World Council of Churches Assembly in Harare, Zimbabwe.
