New Coordinator for Justice and Witness Ministries: Emily McNeill
Wednesday, January 20, 2016
The Coordinator for JW Ministries is one of three "super volunteers" of the conference. She will join Sue Frost (Coordinator of Wider Church Ministries) and Marraine Kettell (Coordinator of Local Church Ministries). "Super-volunteers" work closely with staff in planning and executing a wide variety of conference programs.
Emily McNeill is a member of Journey United Church of Christ in Glenmont and the Lead Organizer of the Labor-Religion Coalition of New York State, which works with faith communities to advocate for economic justice in New York. Formerly a licensed local pastor in the United Methodist Church, she is now a member-in-discernment in the Hudson-Mohawk Association. Emily holds an M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary in New York City, where she was a Fellow with the Poverty Initiative, a national network of grassroots and religious leaders organizing to end poverty. Emily has also worked with United Methodist Kairos Response, a denominational network advocating for justice and human rights in Israel/Palestine, and Christian Peacemaker Teams. She has a B.A. in journalism from Ithaca College.
